Faculty Fellowship

The Mind/Brain/Behavior Interfaculty Initiative (MBB) is unfortunately not offering a fellowship this academic year. Please check back in the Fall of 2010.

Purpose

The primary goal of this fellowship is to bring to Harvard an outstanding visiting scholar who conducts research on mind, brain, and behavior. We are particularly interested in a visitor who links multiple disciplines, conducts research in areas or with technologies not well covered by our own faculty, and is eager to cross departments and schools to engage with the inter-disciplinary MBB community of faculty and students.

During the visit, we expect the fellow to engage directly in mind, brain, and behavior related scholarship with his/her nominating faculty members and relevant laboratories, to be involved in MBB-invited lectures and seminars, and to offer an upper division undergraduate or graduate seminar and one or more public lectures. The fellow must spend the majority of his or her time in the Boston area and especially with MBB and the Harvard community.

Guidelines

Candidates must be nominated by at least two Harvard faculty members; preferably from different departments or schools, working on different populations or with different approaches. The fellow will have a visiting faculty or scholar appointment in the academic department of one of the nominators, and the department/faculty member agreeing to host the fellow will be expected to supply research space.

The successful candidate will be selected by the MBB Faculty Steering committee.

Stipends

Faculty fellows will normally receive up to one half of their academic year salaries (up to $50,000) for the fellowship period September 1 to June 30. In general, the fellow's other half salary will be expected to come from other sources. Stipends for those without regular academic appointments or without other sources of income will be based on individual circumstances. MBB will also provide a modest allowance to cover necessary expenses that might include a) health benefit coverage, and/or b) reimbursement of relocation expenses up to $1,500 based upon receipts.

For inquiries, contact an MBB Administrator or any Steering Committee member.
