The Department of Cognitive Science at Johns Hopkins University is seeking a full-time Laboratory Research Coordinator to work in the labs of Dr. Leyla Isik (Computational Cognitive Neuroscience Lab) and Dr. Michael Bonner (Cognitive Neuroscience and Machine Learning Lab). The Laboratory Research Coordinator will work on projects involving fMRI, EEG, behavioral testing, and computational modeling of vision and cognition. The position is particularly suited for a recent graduate from a Neuroscience, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science or related program who is seeking to work in an innovative research environment in preparation for graduate school. Duties and Responsibilities: Running Experiments. The Laboratory Research Coordinator will recruit and interact with study participants and will run experiments in the lab (fMRI, EEG, behavioral), as well as online behavioral experiments with platforms such as Amazon Mechanical Turk. The Laboratory Research Coordinator will have administrative responsibilities associated with these experiments, including maintaining lab records, uploading and organizing data, and managing IRB documentation and reviews. Maintaining Infrastructure. The Laboratory Research Coordinator is responsible for maintaining lab equipment and managing data storage, including EEG equipment, lab computers, and lab accounts on the Maryland Advanced Research Computing Center (MARCC) and cloud-based storage services. Research Projects. The Laboratory Research Coordinator will be responsible for carrying out independent research projects and will assist with the research projects of students and postdocs. These projects will involve a combination of behavior, fMRI, EEG, and computational modeling. The Laboratory Research Coordinator will be expected to participate in all aspects of experiment design, analysis, and communication, including creating stimuli and experimental protocols, collecting and analyzing data, writing up results for publication, and presenting findings at conferences. Additional. Interact with outside vendors. Assist with coordinating lab meetings, talks, conference trips and visits. Assist with manuscript preparation and submission. Requirements: (1) BA/BS in Neuroscience, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science or related scientific field; (2) experience with scientific computing (Matlab, Python, or R); (3) an ability to solve technical problems independently; (4) strong organizational skills; (5) ability to work well with others; and (6) some prior research experience.
