Purdon, Ph.D.<br>Assistant in Bioengineering, Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital</p><p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Target Audience</span>: MDs, PhDs, residents, fellows, research staff interested in learning more about research and clinical developments in the Cognitive/Affective Neurosciences and related clinical disciplines. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Objectives</span>: Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to (1) analyze the frequency content of electroencephalogram signals using the spectrogram; (2) describe electroencephalogram patterns associated with different anesthetic and sedative drugs; and (3) explain mechanisms by which anesthetic drugs induce unconsciousness and sedation, and how they relate to the electroencephalogram. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Accreditation, Physicians</span>: Partners Healthcare System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Partners Healthcare System designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit per seminar.
