I am interested in the psychological and biological factors that shape interindividual differences in adaptation following exposure to traumatic experiences. Currently, I study the neural underpinnings of trauma memory recall, a central process in the development and maintenance of PTSD, in postpartum women who had a traumatic childbirth experience. I am also exploring the obstetric and psychosocial factors which may put women at risk for developing childbirth-related PTSD, and the associations of observed neural characteristics with mother-infant bonding. My research utilizes functional and structural MRI techniques, as well as psychological and observational measures.
