# Research Assistant Position: Adult Stress-Related Psychiatric Disorders

Research Assistant Position: Adult Stress-Related Psychiatric Disorders
Dr. Oluwarotimi (Timi) Folorunso, Translational Neuroscience Laboratory, McLean Hospital / Harvard Medical School
spring 2025

Our lab investigates how developmental changes in synaptic transmission, neural circuits, and networks contribute to adult psychopathology in stress-related psychiatric disorders. Specifically, we study the effects of early-life stress on the development of prefrontal cortex circuits and their impact on social behavior. We utilize molecular and cellular techniques (e.g., Immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, RT-qPCR), ex vivo and in vivo electrophysiology, and mouse behavior. Responsibilities: The lab assistant will play a key role in executing experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to scientific manuscripts. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and work closely with talented scientists. The position requires handling mice regularly, and the primary responsibilities may include (1) performing mouse behavioral assays (e.g., social interaction tests in male and female mice), drug administration, and analyzing data using machine learning tools; (2) performing transcardial perfusion, brain dissection, and organ retrieval; (3) cryosectioning of mouse brains; and (4) performing molecular and cellular techniques and microscopy imaging. Additional Information: Oluwarotimi Folorunso, Ph.D., is Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Assistant Neuroscientist at the Translational Neuroscience Laboratory of McLean Hospital, Director of the McLean Mental Health Research Summer Program, and Assistant Director of Outreach and Community Engagement at the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center. To Apply: Contact Dr. Folorunso at <ofolorunso@mclean.harvard.edu>.
