fall 2024

The overarching mission of the MGH Mood and Behavior Lab is to improve current knowledge of what puts youth and young adults at risk for suicide, non-suicidal self-injury, and depression, and to prevent these outcomes. Our current grants are focused on understanding short-term risk for suicidal behavior in pediatric psychiatric inpatients, employing ecological momentary assessment and passive sensing technology to assess life stress, physiological stress, sleep disturbance, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors in real-world contexts. **Responsibilities**: RAs will have the opportunity to attend rounds, administer a standard clinical assessment battery to inpatients at admission and prior to discharge. Depending on availability, RAs may also have opportunities to assist in other aspects of the projects, including consents and follow-ups, and administering neurocognitive tasks and behavioral assessments. RAs who are involved in the lab for multiple semesters may have the opportunity to take on more advanced training opportunities, as well as opportunities to be involved in preparing manuscripts for publication. **Requirements and Expectations**: Our current patient-facing studies are being conducted at Salem Hospital. RAs will be required to be available at least 10 hours/week on site. Prior experience conducting participant-facing research is desired but not required. **Additional Information**: This position is in-person and offered for course credit. Location: Salem Hospital.
