Research Assistant Position:Neuroscience of sleep and wakefulness

Our lab studies the brain circuitry that controls sleep and wakefulness, using cutting edge neuroscience techniques in mice. Current projects focus on questions such as What causes sleepiness in narcolepsy? Why is sleep disrupted around menopause? Which circuits regulate arousals in obstructive sleep apnea? Responsibilities of RA: The RA will learn and be responsible for histology (sectioning brains and immunohistochemistry), and analysis of recordings of mouse electroencephalogram, electromyogram, fiber photometry and infrared video. Requirements and Expectations of RA position: The RA will meet with their supervisor at least once a week, and should be able to commit 10-20 hours per week in the lab. Some introductory neuroscience courses would be helpful, but are not essential.Additional Information: Lab website is at https://sleep.hms.harvard.edu/research/labs-divisions/scammell-lab . This is an unpaid position, but may be eligible for course credit.
