Research Assistant Positions: Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience (Nelson)

The Nelson Lab in the Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience, located in the Longwood Medical Area, is currently looking for volunteer undergraduate research assistants to work on a broad range of research studies. Our studies focus on several lines of research, including the early identification of autism, the effects of early adversity on brain and behavioral development, and the development of facial recognition and emotion. Each study uses a variety of neuroimaging tools, including the electrophysiology, functional near infrared spectroscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging, along with a variety of behavioral tools, including eye tracking and standardized developmental assessments. Duties: Primary responsibilities will include assisting with data entry, study visits, and processing behavioral and/or brain-based measures. Additional Information: The research assistants will gain familiarity with our research methods and may have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience testing infants and/or children and participate in lab meetings and journal clubs (schedule dependent). These positions are ideal for anyone considering medical school or future graduate study in experimental or developmental psychology or cognitive neuroscience. Requirements: ability to work with children, familiarity with PC and Mac, self-motivated, and enthusiasm for developmental research. Applicants for these positions must be able to commit at least 10 hours/week during the fall semester. Ideal applicants will be able to continue to assist with studies in the spring semester.
