Research Assistant Positions: Neural Processing of Language
Laboratory of Developmental Psychology, Prof. Jesse Snedeker (Psychology/FAS)
Spring 2026

We are looking for research assistants next semester to work on a series of EEG projects investigating the neural processing of language. We are structuring the research course to be about EEG as a method and how it can be applied to language research. Students will learn about applications of electroencephalography (EEG) in language comprehension research through hands-on training and experience with data collection, processing, and analysis. In addition to EEG lab work, students will learn to read and critically evaluate EEG research with a focus on language comprehension. Both adult and developmental EEG research will be covered. **Additional Information**: Learning objectives: (1) students will understand the neurophysiological basis of the EEG signal, how EEG data is processed and averaged to create an ERP signal, and how ERP components map onto underlying cognitive processes; (2) students will be able to read and critically evaluate EEG research, with a focus on studies of language comprehension; and (3) students will be able to conduct EEG research in a language laboratory setting, including recruiting and interacting with participants, setting up participants to collect clean EEG data, running studies, and processing and analyzing data. **To Apply**: To express interest, students should email Briony Waite (<bwaite@g.harvard.edu>).
