Research Internship: Neuroscience and Functional Brain Imaging

Dr. Jingyuan Chen, Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School
Spring and Summer 2021

The Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital is a world-leading institute for functional neuroimaging. Our center pioneers advanced functional brain imaging techniques for broad neuroscience and clinical applications. Our lab is seeking part-time research interns to help with ongoing studies that involve multi-modal acquisitions, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), Electroencephalography (EEG) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET). The student will have experience in signal processing and a strong interest in neuroscience to join our efforts to facilitate the translational applications of advanced neuroimaging techniques. Depending on the student’s specific interest, expertise and training needs, he/she can take on roles involving signal processing, programming, data acquisition or neuroscience investigations. The student will have the option to choose from a series of well-defined short-term projects or participate in ongoing projects that involve novel integration of multi-modal imaging techniques to study brain’s function and physiology. Requirements: For students interested in neuroimaging analysis (virtual internship): skilled in MATLAB or Python programming; knowledge of basic linear algebra and signal processing. For students interested in data acquisition (on-site internship): basic knowledge of physics and enthusiasm for hands-on experiments. Additional Information: The student will work closely with Dr. Jingyuan Chen during the internship. She/he will have ample opportunities to interact with the broad research community at the Martinos Center and have access to MR physics lab meetings and center-wide neuroimaging webinars. Currently, this is an unpaid position. This position is ideally suited for students who intend to pursue graduate training in neuroscience and medical imaging.
