Research Internship Position: Neuroimaging and Substance Abuse Disorders
Dr. Amy Janes, Functional Integration of Addiction Research Laboratory (FIARL), McLean Hospital / Harvard Medical School
fall 2019

Students interested in studying substance abuse disorders using neuroimaging techniques may be interested in the open volunteer internship position in the Functional Integration of Addiction Research Laboratory (FIARL) at McLean Hospital. The FIARL laboratory uses neuroimaging techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalogram (EEG) to understand how individual differences in brain function contribute to substance abuse disorders. Responsibilities: Include working with the research assistant, postdoctoral fellows and principal investigator on ongoing research in nicotine dependence. The laboratory also has a wealth of behavioral and clinical data allowing for potential students to carve out their own project. Requirements: Hours can be flexible to fit around the interested student’s class schedule, but ideally a student could devote at least 8 hours a week to being in the lab. Additional Information: This position also has the potential for providing class credit. This position would fit with students interested in neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, neuroimaging and those deciding whether to peruse an advanced degree focused on research and/or clinical practice. For more information on the focus of the lab, please see: http://www.janeslab.org or contact Dr. Amy Janes (ajanes@mclean.harvard.edu. To Apply: Contact Dr. Amy Janes (ajanes@mclean.harvard.edu).
