Mattie Toma (PhD student) and Gautam Rao (faculty sponsor) in the Harvard Economics Department are looking for a motivated and conscientious summer Research Assistant to work on projects in behavioral and development economics. Duties: You will spend half of your time involved with data analysis work on a large-scale randomized controlled trial examining the impact of improved sleep on productivity, decision-making, and health outcomes in a low-income population in Chennai, India. Analysis work will primarily involve coding in Stata. The other half of your time will be spent assisting Mattie, who works at the intersection of psychology and economics, with projects on at least one of the following topics (tasks can be catered to RA interests): moral beliefs, time perceptions, addiction, and nutrition. Tasks are likely to include completing literature reviews, designing materials for experiments, and analyzing data in Stata. Requirements and Expectations: Some previous experience with Stata is required, though you will also receive one-on-one feedback and guidance to facilitate skill development. You will be expected to work around 15 hours/week (flexible based on schedules, and a possibility to work remotely for some of the summer if desired). Other Information: This is a volunteer position.
