The Harvard MGH Center for Law, Brain, and Behavior aims to accelerate system-wide norm changes in the legal system through the integration of applied neuroscience knowledge. As the intersection of law and neuroscience rapidly evolves, CLBB Executive Director, Dr. Francis Shen, seeks to hire Undergraduate Research Assistants for the academic term 2019-20 (Sept-May). Research Assistants will play an integral role in exciting Center initiatives concerning the developing brain, the aging brain, and many additional topics. They will report to Dr. Shen; will work with CLBB co-directors Dr. Judith Edersheim and Dr. Bruce Price, as well as with CLBB affiliated faculty in both law and neuroscience; and will support research in the Project on Law and Applied Neuroscience, a joint program with the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School. Responsibilities:
The CLBB is entering into an exciting phase of expansion, and the Research Associates and Research Assistants will be expected to contribute to the Center’s mission by supporting the Center Directors in all Center-related matters, both substantive and administrative. Duties vary considerably, but illustrative examples of possible tasks include assisting in: scientific and legal literature reviews; drafting of legal and scientific briefs; grant writing; conference and meeting coordination; web content updating; and other duties as assigned. Requirements: Successful applicants will have experience/training in law, neuroscience (or both); excellent time management skills; focused; ability to work independently; and strong communication, research and writing skills. Although not required, skill and experience in statistical analysis, grant writing, research design, web site content management, graphic arts, video production, and the like are a bonus and should be mentioned in your application.
