The Center for Cognitive and Brain Health at Northeastern University provides an intellectually vibrant scientific environment for researchers and scientists, and invites applications for a Research Assistant to join our team. The primary objective of the position is to conduct and coordinate a randomized controlled trial to enhance physical activity in older adults. Responsibilities: The Research Assistant will be involved in all aspects of the research process and will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers with expertise in behavioral neurology, psychology, cognitive aging, translational research, brain plasticity and MR methods development. Opportunities include having access to data sets for publications, developing and writing research grant proposals, participation in providing academic mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students and research staff, dissemination of research findings at professional conferences, and career development resources through Northeastern University and the Greater Boston area. The Research Assistant will also have access to the facilities including the new Bioimaging Research Center in the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (http://www.northeastern.edu/isec). Requirements and Expectations: The successful candidate will be a highly motivated researcher with an interest in translational applications of functional MRI neuroimaging. The position requires a background in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Sciences, Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. However, we will consider candidates of any scientific background. This position requires acquisition and analysis of functional MRI, behavioral and neuropsychological data. In addition, knowledge of research methodology, quantitative data analysis including statistics and basic programming are helpful to the successful candidate. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and strong written and oral English communication skills are required. Interests in the clinical application of cognitive aging research and experience with clinical populations are also desirable. Additional Information: This project is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Boston Roybal Center (https://www.brandeis.edu/roybal/). The successful candidate will be supervised by Professors Art Kramer and Maiya Geddes and will have access to additional mentorship by the Roybal Center.
