Research Technician / Lab Manager: Sleep Neuroscience (full-time)
Prof. Laura Lewis, Lewis Lab, Biomedical Engineering, Boston University
full-time post-graduation (start date between January and July 2019)

Position: We are seeking a highly motivated and organized candidate to work as a research technician and lab manager in the Lewis Lab in the department of Biomedical Engineering at Boston University, an interdisciplinary and collaborative lab focused on advanced brain imaging techniques and the neuroscience of sleep. Position will be ideal for someone seeking to develop their research skills before moving on to graduate or medical school. The role will involve conducting neuroimaging and EEG studies, programming experiments, data analysis (e.g. scripting/image processing/computational neuroscience), developing lab infrastructure, and lab management (e.g. subject recruitment and screening). This position is expected to be a 2 year commitment, and we aim to support the long-term career goals of the person in this role; our past RAs have presented original research work at conferences and gone on to medical and graduate schools. Target start date is between January and July 2019. Requirements: Candidates should have enthusiasm for neuroscience and computational research. A bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. engineering, physics, computer science, neuroscience, psychology) is required, and a strong quantitative or computational background is important for this role (programming experience in Matlab or Python is a plus). Finalists will be asked to provide a coding portfolio: two well-annotated scripts or projects in a language of your choice. Good interpersonal skills and comfort working with human participants are needed. Organizational skills, motivation, and attention to detail will be essential to the position. Because some of our studies are on the neuroscience of sleep, occasionally experiments take place at night - candidates should be open to a schedule that will not always conform to typical office hours. To Apply: Please email C.V., transcripts (unofficial is fine), cover letter, and names of three references to Laura Lewis at ldlewis@bu.edu. (posted 11/2018)
