Student Visitor Positions: Eating Disorders and General Eating Behavior

Dr. Javaras’ team is looking for one to two students to assist with several ongoing projects, including an NIH-funded study,on eating disorders and general eating behavior at McLean Hospital. Dr. Javaras’ research combines psychology, neuroscience, and epidemiology—and also utilizes innovative methodology and technology—to answer questions about eating behavior in humans. Requirements and Expectations: Dependability and attention to detail are required, as is enthusiasm and willingness to learn about all aspects of research. Prior research experience is not a prerequisite, since training will be provided. The position will involve a time commitment of 8-10 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters. All work will be remote during the fall semester and potentially the spring semester. Additional Information: The position is offered through McLean Hospital’s Student Visitor Program. Current students may be eligible to receive academic credit for research, if desired. McLean Hospital is located in Belmont, MA and is accessible via public transportation from Harvard Square. Learning Outcome: Depending on background and preferences, students will gain training and experience across the following areas:literature review, study design, task design and implementation, data collection, data entry, data cleaning and processing,data analysis, presentations, and scientific writing. Students will also gain knowledge of and experience with behavioral and neuroimaging research on eating and eating disorders, emotions and stress, reward, and cognitive control. In addition to weekly lab meetings, students will meet with the PI and/or other members of the research team regularly for mentoring and training.
