My research generally asks the question: why are languages the way they are, both in the narrow sense of why specific languages have the properties they have, and also in the more general sense of investigating potential linguistic universals, and their explanations: are there domain-specific constraints on possible and impossible languages? Research interests: Morphology, Syntax, Language Documentation (with a special focus on indigenous languages of Kamchatka).
