About the Lab: The Shen Neurolaw Lab motto is “Every story is a brain story,” and the mission of the Lab is to translate advances in brain science and artificial intelligence into better law and policy, and to identify and address the ethical, legal, and societal implications of advances in neurotechnology and AI. Current projects include a book project on law and neuroscience; the Neurotech Justice Accelerator at MGB (NJAM); the Dana Foundation Career Network in Neuroscience & Society (neuroXcareers.org); NIH-funded research on improving the diversity and representativeness of participation in human neuroimaging research (REACHforBRAIN.org); and additional projects at the intersection of neuroscience and society. In recent years we have had successful MBB 90b students as well. Responsibilities: Research assistants play valuable roles in all aspects of the Lab’s work, including: conducting literature reviews, reviewing manuscripts, communicating with research partners, building websites, coordinating events, and much more. All RAs are mentored by Dr. Francis Shen, JD, PhD. Dr. Shen is: a Member of the Harvard Medical School Center for Bioethics; Co-Director, Neurotech Justice Accelerator at MGB; Chief Innovation Officer for the Center for Law, Brain & Behavior at the MGH Department of Psychiatry; and a Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota. Requirements and Expectations; Minimum 10 hours per week. Additional Information Position is a mix of mostly virtual and some in-person, with in-person meetings either on Harvard campus or at MGB Assembly Row in Somerville; MBB 90b course enrollment is possible, subject to necessary approvals.
