Research Assistant Positions: Developmental Psychology

The Spelke lab asks foundational questions in developmental cognitive science, regarding what infants and children know and how they learn. Our studies primarily focus on object cognition, social psychology, navigation, and numeracy, in infants, preschool children, school children, and sometimes adults. In order to study these areas, we draw upon a wide range of collaborations with neuroscientists, computer scientists, and economists in diverse countries, complementing the research in our lab. Our methodologies include behavioral experiments, EEG neuroimaging, eye-tracking, and evaluations of school-based educational interventions. If any of the above draws your attention, you might be a good fit for our lab! Responsibilities of RA position: RAs should expect to do both general lab tasks and experiment-focused tasks. The lab general tasks will include scheduling participants, managing our databases, and ensuring the lab continues to run smoothly. Along with this, RAs will be paired with a researcher and contribute to their ongoing projects, which will include running experiments, coding data, and helping to perform data analysis.  Such projects also can lead to longer collaborations within the lab and could eventuate in an undergraduate thesis. Requirements and Expectations: No previous experience necessary! 10 hours a week in the lab is preferred, but this requirement is very flexible. Additional Information: We offer course credit or positions on a volunteer basis, there is no paid position at this time.
